is love enough?

my day was wrought with havoc....

 the good husband or the rebellious daughter? if faced with an impossible choice how is a woman supposed to choose?

 When i was young, i reveled in the tale of my mother and father's love story. Together since the age of 16. Each other's firsts.. and last. They battled through the difficulties of life, enduring long separations, until they both became financially successful. Theirs was the love of a lifetime, a love that is all sacrificing and passionate.

 It all started one family dinner, all five of us. My mother, Father, my brother, and me. We were waiting for my sister; who as usual is late for our weekly family dinner. When all of a sudden my sister burst in on us pale and stammering her apologies for being late.

 My mother the ever sensitive one, inquired:

"Eleni (my sister) is something wrong?"

"Well um not really... um mom can i talk to you in the library?"

A few minutes later I heard shouting from the library. So i went to check on them.

"Eleni what is wrong with you? Dad and Lucien are in the terrace. You know Dad doesn't like it when we shout at mom."

The scene in front of me was like a tableau,  my sister all frantic, my mother hysterical.
It seems like my wayward sister got pregnant by her boyfriend. My family dislikes her boyfriend because he has an awful reputation with women. The guy is her tennis instructor whose intentions are a little questionable. Eleni got an abortion because she was scared of being disowned, and because she wants us to accept the guy, and her getting pregnant will make my Dad even more angry at him than he already is.

So here is my sister screaming,ranting and blaming our parents for her decision, especially my mother.
My sister wants us to accept the guy into the family because she loves him. So i told her that its not that easy because he insulted our Dad a couple months ago.


My mother wanting, to give my sister everything is asking me to go convince mt Dad to accept the guy. Unfortunately all the shouting drew the attention of our father that he burst into the library followed by my brother.


My Dad was livid, he wants to teach my sister a lessons by making her leave the house and cutting off her finances. My parents get into an argument. 


My mom is scared of what people will say. She wants to save face and keep everything under wraps. She also does not want my sister to leave. She is threatening to go live with the guy if we don't accept him.


My Dad wants a firm hand on my sister. Unfortunately my mom is saying that she's still young (she's 25) and that if she lives the house her lifestyle will radically change because the guy can't afford to provide for her. My Dad made my sister choose. She choose the guy, and my mom pays for their apartment and needs secretly.


For a year we endured chaos in our family dynamics... Whats more my Dad got sick...he was hospitalized for more than a month... Even then my sister didn't visit. The Guy's been spreading to all and sunder that my Dad is an awful father, that he's abusive and an asshole.


My Dad found out that my mom's been supporting the guy and my sister. 


 A week ago, he went to London.  


My Dad sent my mom an email when he arrived in London. 


LETS FACE IT SOFIA! I CANNOT TRUST YOU WHEN ELENI IS THE ISSUE!!! I CANNOT MAKE MYSELF DO SO!! THIS IS GETTING TO MY NERVES AND IN TRUTH AFFECTING MY JOB, MY SLEEP AND MY HEALTH. I'M SORRY!! PRAYERS ARE GOOD YES IT HELPS YES! BUT TO USE IT AS AN ESCAPE FROM REALITY!!!??ENDING UP FOOLING YOUR PARTNER IN LIFE??.I AM SORRY SOFIA BUT I'M NOT HAPPY. YES HAPPY BECAUSE I LOVE YOU BUT YOU ARE ABUSING IT............ THAT TO THE END I'M NO LONGER SURE IF I AM HAPPY. 


all this makes me wonder? is love ever really enough? What if in your partnership as husband and wife, you sacrifice your time, and your health to provide for your family.Then they betray you. Are you supposed to just understand and take it? are we supposed to love unconditionally? can a marriage overcome a fracture in trust?
