The Beginning

 In a society/ community where in the definition of a successful woman is a flourishing career, a husband, kids, a four bedroom house, and a car for every family member. Where do mere mortal women like us fit in this world? This blog is about the interwoven lives of 3 women, their families, relationships,loves and life.

 one cold winter day,Andromeda, Katerina, and Etienne are carrying on with their weekly girls date. Only this time its Over Skype. Etienne is a continent away, and Kate and Andy are back home.

 ' Girls i have news' Andromeda said. " Im Pregnant" ' that's not news' kate exclaimed in her normal quiet voice. " aw, c'mon you guys you already discussed this without telling me?!" " exactly what do you mean by that kate? I'm pregnant so what? E, i didn't tell her first ok? she's just got her panties in a bunch cause we haven't seen each other in a long time." " and whose fault is that, andy? we live in the same city! you've been avoiding me!" " can you blame me?" andy grumbled.

Andromeda, or andy as we call her is my drop dead gorgeous friend who's got a penchant for dramatic romantic relationships. Katerina, called kate is the quiet, scholarly yet fashionable one. Then there's me. Commonly called E short for Etienne, the perpetually lost one.

 We've been friends since we were in our preschool. We went to the same high school and to the same university, albeit took different courses. Andy have always been outgoing. She was, and still is a social butterfly. While kate and I were spending our lunch hours in the library all through high school. Andy was kissing every hot guy in between the stacks. In college when kate and i took to the bleachers to ogle hot sports guys, Andy dated them.

 Then, one day she surprised us by steadily Dating Benjamin, rich, kind, conservative, but average looking. They've together since our 2nd year in college (or so we thought) . Which is why Kate and I were dumbfounded when she announced that she's pregnant, and the father is not Ben. Unbeknownst to us she and Ben haven't been together in over 6 months, She caught Ben cheating on her. Andy went to to lament that how can a guy who is supposed to have been lucky to snag her do that to her. In all fairness Andy did love Ben, she was really thinking that he was the one. Her parents even liked Ben.

So, anyway Andy announced that she's marrying her baby daddy.. the guy is non other than Donald, a small time underwear model who also works as a concierge at Andy's hotel. Granted, he is hot and tall but still marrying a guy you've only known for six months? and a rebound at that. But Andy was adamant that its love.

Apparently Andy, who has never opened a bible in her life was swept off her feet cause Donald was religious and Family oriented. They would stay up all night talking, and discussing the bible and you know.. I guess the lethal combination of looks and religiousness proved to be Andy's downfall. When Donald found out she was pregnant he gave her a bible and when she opened it a ring was there.

 Whats happening to Andy leads me to examine women's preconceived notion that a nice guy, is one whose got a stable job or well off, not overly handsome, and dependable. Isn't it a contradiction that a guy who's supposed to be dependable turned out to be a two timing ass, and the guy who typically jumps from women to women is owing up to his responsibility. how do we know how to choose the better man? Also, is becoming pregnant by your boyfriend a push to marriage?
